27 February 2008

Today was Bodhi's first VET visit, and he did pretty well. I have to deduct points, since he didn't get any shots today, but he was well behaved and enjoyed a 'butt sniffing' session with a min-hotdog dog. He weighed in at 28LBS, which a decent increase from a week-ish ago when he came home at around 22LBS. At this rate, He'll be walking us in a few months. Later this evening, I went to the eye doc's, where I was measured seeing 20/15...I was advised that I should be able to see even clearer in a few weeks. Following that, I finally got to go to the gym. With the puppy coming home, I have had to readjust my schedule and lifting weights has been placed on the back burner. Well, I'm off to bed...I'll admit it was a pretty boring day but it's all I got for now. Lates...

24 February 2008

What a weekend..
Since Thursday night where I worked 15 hours straight, not including the hours I was awake during the day with the 'beast'. It was crazy...I couldn't see a thing and people were flying by my Troop car, with lights on, and then flying off the road. It was pure chaos out there or Thunderdome! I left work, drove to Target to get a presciption filled, and then proceeded to run home to feed and let out the pup. I quickly placed him in his crate, and then shoveled my home out. I then gorged myself with some food, and then my buddy drove me to get my Lasik eye surgery done. I will go into in more detail to come, but I can see 20/20 with a little fog-iness already, and it should only improve over the next few weeks. By the time I got home, a could barely stay awake/conscious. Normally, Lasik patients experience an extreme burning sensation for a few hours, but I was so exhausted that I passed out for about 5 hours. Besides not being able to stand ANY light of any sort when I first woke up, I could see pretty well/clear.
Saturday the rents and the rents-in-law came over and we went to PF Changs for lunch...man, I have never seen my parents each so much. They absolutely loved the puppy, who was not much of any excitement. The reason being that Bullmastiffs experience 'growing pains' and Bodhi was experiencing this in his rear left leg and refused to do much of anything besides eat, poop, pee, and sleep. He would not walk on that leg at all...good thing it only lasts about a day at a time or so. The other good thing about this is that the rents think he is extremely dull and dosile, and haven't seen him in 110% Bodhi mode, when he runs around like a man-dog. We'll save this for when they doggie-sit, hehe.
Today, my neighbor helped me put in a flourescent light in my garage that is 8 feet long. At night it is like the sun in there, so if anyone needs to tan, let me know. I might start doing oil changes at night for extra money, hehe. I'll try to explain the Lasik procedure in full detail later this week. Anyway, I need sleep...till tomorrow...

19 January 2008

So, today seemed to be going well...I awoke to my pup crying to go out. I unwillingly got up, took him out (where he proceeded to drop the biggest 'duece' a small puppy has ever dropped), and fed him. I had to go to the eye doctors to schedule my Lasik, and would be gone about 2.5 hours. When I walked into my house, it smelled like a giant fart, which I assumed Bodhi had dropped, but as I got closer to the crate I knew it was far worse. Apparently, he had some sort of explosive diarrhea, and then proceeded to walk/lay in to. So, when I got him out of his crate, and started carrying him to avoid poop on the floor, I became 'poopified'. I had to strip down and take a shower in order to wash him since it was far too cold for an outside bath. I got him all cleaned up, brushed, and fed before he later decided to pee on my carpet right in front of me. To say the least, I felt like a new parent with a baby, and was so relieved when Tina informed me that she was on her way home from work. Of course he was an angel for us when Tina was home, since he is her 'little angel'. I worked out, hit the store, came home, cooked, cleaned, and then crashed...until 3am when he started crying again and I had to literally drag my old bod down the stairs to let him out...I figured it is has to be about a 1000x's better than today's explosion incident. Let's hope tomorrow goes a little bit better...."Focker out".

18 February 2008

So, it has been both an exciting and depressing weekend/week start. Friday I was honored with the presence of my immediate family, including my brother fresh home from rural Kansas, the rents, the siblings, MK, nieces, brother-in-laws, and even some Strong Island peeps (with lovely daughter that I got to meet). It is always a time when I leave with ribs hurting from all the laughter, but only this time some tears. I don't know if my job has desensitized me with goodbyes, but it baffles me to see people try to remember loved ones the last time that they last saw them. I instead found myself thinking of all the great times my family has had through the years, and it is always reminder of times when we were tiny...perhaps growing up with the "Wonder Years" as a constant reminder of how great things were growing up (in simpler times) is to blame? When I returned home, I heard that Indiana Jones 4 was coming out soon, and I simply thought of the time my brother and I went to SyndiKid (Spelling?) to see Raiders of the Lost Ark, and he won this Indiana "action figure" (Not DOLL!) with real whipping arm action. The best times... I will end Friday's thoughts with my goal of sending many care packages to my brother, reminding him that there are greater days to come, and attempt to make his stay there better just a little... I am open to suggestions/joint packages.
Saturday was a very stressful and joyous day, when we got to bring home little Bullmastiff Bodhi, weighing in around 22 LBS or so. Pictures will be attached following this blog!! The first one is Bodhi and his mom! The wifey road in the back, paying great attention to keep the little pup safe and secure. We got him into the house, and let him get the lay of the land before feeding this tiny pup. If he grows how he eats, we are in a lot of trouble...I haven't seen quick furious eating since my days in the Academy. The remainder of Saturday and Sunday were filled with naps, meals, many bathroom breaks, and lots of playing...I fear I will wear holes in my jeans soon. For those who were able to come visit, thank you. For those that cannot visit yet, Bodhi promises to grow very fast and big to welcome you home with much bigger paws...
I am off to bed...I have a lot of errands to run, including a visit to finally get a Lasik Eye Surgery date/time. Wish me luck. I'll keep you posted on funny events with the new addition to the family...I will say before I go that he loves to sleep on his back, and flops around his crate until he is 110% comfortable. Takes after his owner I guess (male side)....Nite.

10 February 2008

Well, it was a busy weekend. Since Friday, I have been 'puppy proofing' my first floor, since we have to wait to bring the puppy home. One of the breeder's dogs got kennel cough, so he is keeping the puppies for a week to give them antibiotics and observe them. Tina and I spent the majority of Friday and Saturday cleaning and 'proofing' the house. Then , I worked a DWI patrol overtime Saturday night in an attempt to catch someone drinking and driving...negative results.
Today, I spent most of the day installing a mount and switch system for a ceiling fan for my guest bedroom...my neighbor is basically Bob Villa and knows all about houses. It took about 5 hours, but I now have a nice new illuminated switch for a ceiling fan that I will put in following painting the guest bedroom. For those who wish to do same, call me, I am now a master since I basically had him explain the system step-by-step. I am off to bed soon...I just got back from the "Outback" and am full of steak and deserts, haha. Till later this week, be safe and stay warm!!

3 February 2008

Well, it's been a little while, and I've been slacking. I will make every attempt to add a blog more often, if only every couple of days.
This weekend...Friday, I had a pretty normal day of work, but I must admit it sucks working on the TP when it pours. I am not sure about my brother, but when my uniform gets wet, it smells like a wet dog, literally, hehe. After work, the wifey and I went over to an old squadmate's house for drinks and food. It was tough getting up Saturday morning in order to make the hike up to my brother's house for the birthday celebration. Tough because I had a slight hangover, since I can't bounce back from drinking like I used to do in college. It was worth the trip though...sitting around BS-ing and playing lots of 'hide-and-go-seek'. My favorite part was falling asleep on the couch (COU-R you going to the mall later?) with my brother's new-born on my chest. I hate to say it, but since she was sick, she passed out on my chest for about an hour, which I would never get her to do. After she woke up, I was able to get some laughter out of her from my father's arms, before she slowly went out again...what a great child(ren). Today, it was back to the grind, before I returned home, ate, and passed out on the couch while the Giants somehow beat New England...it is definitely going to snow. Well, it's my bedtime....got a few days off until I head back into work. Looking forward to picking up the puppy Saturday.
Nite...
